Now you can call me 'Mas' Klok

"Demi Tuhan, saya bersumpah untuk melepaskan kekuasaan asing dan tunduk kepada Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia, Pancasila, dan Undang-Undang Dasar 1945."?

Marc Klok, 12 November 2020.

Since I arrived here, I immediately felt comfortable and confident that I could contribute to Indonesia. My dream has begun to be achieved step by step during my three years in Indonesia.

Starting from playing for PSM Makassar and now Persija Jakarta, I felt the atmosphere of extraordinary football; the competition, the supporters, even the drama that is in it. The friendliness of the Indonesian people also makes me fall in love with Indonesia even more.

The dream of being able to contribute to Indonesia has grown bigger in me since then. I have a dream to be part of the Indonesian national team. That has now become one of my goals. I know it won't be easy. Everyone here has the same dream. I chose my dream, and I will do whatever it takes. I always push myself, work hard, and believe that one day I will be there to make Indonesian people smile.

I want to tell you a little about the naturalization process to change your passport to Indonesia. But in my opinion, it's not just a matter of changing passports. It's about setting my heart on giving my best to the country I love, and that dream is right here.

I had a desire from the start I was in Indonesia. I fell in love with everything. However, I only started the process of becoming an Indonesian citizen in early 2020.

Various obstacles, including the COVID-19 pandemic, have disrupted the naturalization process, but now I'm officially Indonesian. I am officially one of the 270 million Indonesian citizens! What a feeling! The moment I've been waiting for for a long time.

"Indonesia Raya, Merdeka Merdeka, Tanahku negriku yang kucinta, Indonesia Raya, Merdeka Merdeka, Hiduplah Indonesia Raya..."

Big goosebumps and a bit nervous when I sing Indonesia Raya. I've been waiting for this day a long time. Today I made my dream come true. So, it's a huge and memorable day for me.

November 12, 2020, will always be my historic day. However, I will say again, this is just the beginning of my contribution to Indonesia. There are still many things that I want to achieve after becoming an Indonesian citizen.

Joining the Indonesian national team and winning a trophy is one of the things I want the most. An achievement that can erase the longing of all Indonesians who want to see Merah Putih triumph again.

Thank you for all those who have been involved and helped me to become an Indonesian citizen. Thank you to the CEO of PSM Makassar, Munafri Appi, PSSI, Persija & Pak Ferry, and Mr. Gatot from Kemenpora.

And for the fans, I want to say a big thanks because you are always supporting me, believing me and encouraging me. Keep doing that, your love makes me fly. Hopefully, our cooperation can bring achievements to Indonesia.

Starting 12 November 2020, Marc Klok is an Indonesian citizen. It doesn't matter if you meet me anywhere to call me: Mas Klok. I would be happy.

Marc Klok
